The Cotton Kids!

This week I photographed the Cotton family, well, the kids of the Cotton family at Peterson Park. Although I'm not sure we accomplished a photo of all three of the kids smiling, we did get some really cute shots that show their personalities well. Here are some of my favorites:

This one made me laugh. Poor Samuel was not happy!

The good, the bad & the ugly...

This has been an intensely busy week. I've had hours to do for Smart Creative, a solo show to prepare for, 4 photo shoots, two client meetings and a partridge in a pear tree.

The good: the last photo shoot I did of the Cotton children was so much fun. I'm going to edit their pictures today so hopefully I'll have some to post.

The bad: the family session I did on Sunday was done in super bright sun and high winds. (i.e. it wasn't my best work) I'm hoping I can gather some good photos out of it and not have to schedule a re-shoot.

The ugly: I was taken off a potential HUGE photo project and it was given to another photog. Bummer. Why won't people give me a chance? Grumble... I guess that's Lakeland for you. It's all about who you know and I make the impression of about a rock. (Side note: two clients came in today and introduced themselves to me when I had met them last week and sat through a hour and a half presentation put on by them. And I was one of four. Seriously... do I really just fade into the wall?)

Trying to stay positive... I'm editing photos which usually makes me happy and working on my solo show artwork tonight. Hopefully I'll get some good stuff done and start to feel like I'm making some progress, rather than just having ideas up in my head. If all else fails, I'll eat a brownie and head to bed at 7pm.

Solo Show in April

I just got invited to do a solo show at Mitchell's Coffeehouse for the month of April. The artist reception will be April 2nd from 5-9PM and will also feature a poetry slam.

I want to show a few items that I already have and create some new stuff. I'm grateful to have a show and deadline to kick me in gear. So, I'll post some sneak peaks and save the date to come to Mitchell's for the big show!

photos.

I was going through some of my raw files from San Jose and came across a few great images that somehow, I missed before. This first one is my favorite.

I'm also working on entering a show in Tallahassee. I have to have all my items postmarked by Saturday so I'm a bit on a time crunch. I have one that I think is solid but I'm undecided on a second entry. I don't know if I should have it be completely different or have it be similar in style/content. Normally in these shows only one piece (if any) get in, so my second entry is more of a gamble... but I've been surprised before when my lesser pick was chosen and my"solid" piece was rejected. You just never know with the judges. Hmmm....

Family Portraits

On Saturday, I photographed a family from the Tampa area. They wanted a change of scenery and really liked the Lake Mirror area, so we did the session there.

(Please excuse the copyright. I don't have my logo with me so I had to go generic.)

The kids reminded me so much of myself and my brother when we were young. At the end we just tried to capture their personalities as they made fun of each other and gave each other funny faces.

Lakeland Photos

Recently I made my last large purchase and bought a new camera, a Nikon D300s. I'm super excited about it and went for a walk on Friday to test it out. Here are some of the pictures I took walking around Lake Mirror...

I love finding carvings in trees. They are reminders of life.

One Year Old!

Today I photographed Dalton, a really cute one year old. We met at a park and played on the playground and then did a traditional "cake smashing".

He loves the swings!
