Mitchell's Show is soon soon soon.

So in just 14 days I put up my art at Mitchell's Coffeehouse. The show is titled "Talk is Cheap" and the reception is on April 2nd, from 5-9PM and there will be yummy treats and a poetry slam. It should be a really fun evening. If you happen to be out of town or doing something REALLY important that you have to miss the reception my art will be on their walls for the month of April.

The show will consist of a series of photographs (new from when I showed there last year) and new mixed media pieces, that all relate to each other. So far I'm pretty happy with how they're turning out and I hope they look good on their walls and that I have enough art to fill their walls up! It seems like a small coffeehouse until you have to hang art on the walls. Somehow they exponentially expand. =) Anyway, please come check out the new work and tell your friends! The artist reception is free and it's also the night of "First Friday" downtown so it's where all the cool kids will be.

A Sister Reunion

Last Thursday Katie Wasson asked me to photograph herself, her mother and her sister that she hadn't seen since she was twelve years old. This was a huge reunion and as Katie said, "It was one of the happiest days of my life." I'm so thankful that I got to photograph this special event.

Mitchell's Show

I'm getting so excited about the show! I'm going to get started on some paintings this weekend and I have an idea for a few photographs, if I can get them done in time. I still need to come up with some marketing materials for the show. It will be a little different than the last one... or most of my shows for that matter. As a friend said, "what's the point of art if it's not saying anything?" So this time, my art will say something. Hopefully it will inspire some responses.

The Cotton Kids!

This week I photographed the Cotton family, well, the kids of the Cotton family at Peterson Park. Although I'm not sure we accomplished a photo of all three of the kids smiling, we did get some really cute shots that show their personalities well. Here are some of my favorites:

This one made me laugh. Poor Samuel was not happy!

The good, the bad & the ugly...

This has been an intensely busy week. I've had hours to do for Smart Creative, a solo show to prepare for, 4 photo shoots, two client meetings and a partridge in a pear tree.

The good: the last photo shoot I did of the Cotton children was so much fun. I'm going to edit their pictures today so hopefully I'll have some to post.

The bad: the family session I did on Sunday was done in super bright sun and high winds. (i.e. it wasn't my best work) I'm hoping I can gather some good photos out of it and not have to schedule a re-shoot.

The ugly: I was taken off a potential HUGE photo project and it was given to another photog. Bummer. Why won't people give me a chance? Grumble... I guess that's Lakeland for you. It's all about who you know and I make the impression of about a rock. (Side note: two clients came in today and introduced themselves to me when I had met them last week and sat through a hour and a half presentation put on by them. And I was one of four. Seriously... do I really just fade into the wall?)

Trying to stay positive... I'm editing photos which usually makes me happy and working on my solo show artwork tonight. Hopefully I'll get some good stuff done and start to feel like I'm making some progress, rather than just having ideas up in my head. If all else fails, I'll eat a brownie and head to bed at 7pm.
